Description

Small, brittle, translucent tears of pale yellow resin, known in Morocco as mska horra. Their aroma is fresh, slightly woody and resinous, and even a tiny amount is enough to notice it.

Pound it in a mortar with a little sugar so it does not stick, then add a pinch to sellou, to certain pastries and to milk desserts. Use it sparingly, since too much mska adds bitterness. Buy it in small quantities: it lasts a long time.

How to enjoy it

  • Use in very small amounts
Storage

In a small airtight box, in a cool place away from heat, which softens the resin. Pound it just before using it.

Questions about frankincense

Frankincense or mska horra?
Our catalog lists it under the French name oliban (frankincense) and the Arabic name mska horra. If your recipe specifically calls for mastic gum or for frankincense, message us on WhatsApp before you order: we will confirm the exact resin.
How do I grind it?
In a mortar, with a pinch of sugar: the sugar keeps the resin from sticking. Avoid an electric grinder, where it tends to stick.
