Description

Golden raisins, plump and supple, with a fruity sweetness lifted by a hint of tartness. Lighter than dark raisins, they keep a lovely color when cooked. They are listed in our catalog as having no added sugar.

These are the raisins for tfaya, the onions cooked down with cinnamon that crown the couscous of big occasions, and for seffa. They also go into sweet and savory tagines, loaf cakes and cookies, and they make a good nibble with tea, between the almonds and cashews.

How to enjoy it
  • In the tfaya for couscous and in seffa
  • In sweet and savory tagines and loaf cakes
  • With tea, between almonds and cashews
Storage

In an airtight container, in a cool, dry place away from light. In hot weather, the fridge keeps them supple longer.

Questions about unsweetened golden raisins

What does “unsweetened” mean?
That is how our catalog describes them: no sugar is added to the raisins. Their sweetness comes from the grape itself.
Should I soak them before cooking?
For tfaya or a tagine, 10 to 15 minutes in warm water makes them plumper and softer. For baking, dust them lightly with flour so they do not sink to the bottom of the pan.
