Description

Medjool is a date for celebrations: big and fleshy, with thin, wrinkled, amber-brown skin. Its flesh is very soft, almost melting, with a sweetness that recalls caramel and honey. The Large grade means big fruit, just below Jumbo.

Serve it at ftour with milk or harira, stuffed with an almond or a walnut half when you have guests, or on a fakya platter with tea. Presented in a beautiful bowl, it also makes a lovely gift during Ramadan.

How to enjoy it
  • At ftour, with milk or harira
  • Stuffed with an almond or a walnut half
  • On a fakya platter, or as a gift during Ramadan
Storage

In a closed container, in a cool place. In hot weather, keep them in the fridge and take them out a little before serving so they get their softness back.

Questions about large medjool dates

Large or Jumbo?
It comes down to size grade: Jumbo are the biggest, Large just below. The taste is the same; Large gives you more dates per kilo, while Jumbo makes more of an impression on a platter.
How do I stuff them?
Slit the date lengthwise, remove the pit and slip in an almond, a walnut half or a little almond paste. Serve them the same day or keep them in the fridge.
